He will be talking to the whole school in the hall (assuming we have a hall) in Block 1 from 9.15am - 10.25am. Everyone is welcome. For those of you who haven't seen Brian in action he is a most a most entertaining and engaging speaker.

He will most likely be talking about his new book that has been nominated in this years NZ Book Awards. It's an exciting retelling of the Battle of Waterloo where Napoleon uses giant dinosaurs as weapons of mass destruction! What fun.

Keep New Zealand Beautiful Competition

Keep New Zealand Beautiful Competition
Young Reporters for the Environment Programme.
This national eco-journalism competition is open for all 11-18 years old's living in New Zealand.  It is an internationally adopted programme that gives New Zealand youth the opportunity to produce creative and engaging environmental journalism articles, photos and films.
Participants are split in to two categories based on their age:
  1. 11-14
  2. 15-18
There are 3 x categories with a prize for each age group up for grabs in each:
  1. Photography
  2. Film
  3. Writing
Each participant needs to select an environmental topic and investigate it. They then need to report on the environmental issues surrounding their topic, and propose solutions, by using either video, photography or writing.
A panel of reputable journalists and environmental experts will judge the entries and select the winners. There are lots of great prizes in each category including the latest and coolest electronics, plus an internship for a day in a newsroom - how cool is that?!
Young people can submit their stories, photos and videos until Friday 28 October 2016.
